Q: Cat Asthma-cost of diagnosis and treatment?
I think my cat has asthma. I've watched videos of it and its exactly what she does. I have to bring her to a vet to get her properly diagnosed to make sure its not something else. What are the costs involved with this? I beleive if it is asthma that it is mild/moderate. She will wake up coughing. I think they'll give her an chest xray. What will the diagnosis and her treatment cost? WIll this cost 200 or 1000$ is basically what I'm asking. My cat has been healthy her life and fortunantly I have had to bring her to the vet for many many years. So I really uneducated about vet fees. Sorry shes been very healthy, and I have Not had to bring her to the vet for many years

A: Hi there...prices do vary from clinic and within the region as well. Consider ringing various clinics and ask who specializes in pulmonary disorders as they would be able to help you best in evaluating your cat's breathing disorder if it happens to be something other than asthma. Q: Is this the correct asthma treatment for severe asthma?
I was diagnosed with severe asthma. I have had asthma my entire life, but it has gotten much worse the last few years. I have recently been diagnosed with a lot of allergies this year, some even food, which I know to avoid. I just want to know if anyone else out there is on this same treatment or similar for my type of asthma. I take Advair 500/50 2 times a day Singular 1 time a day Allegra D 2 times a day Spiriva 1 time a day Fluticasone inhaled 2x daily Albuetrol as needed Considering Theophylline or Aminophylline if symptoms do not improve. Thanks for you help.

A: Consider prednisone too. Theophylline and aminophylline have gone out of popularity but were used a lot just a few years ago. I have been on prednisone for years and yes, there are side effects but I wouldn't want to do without it. God bless.

Q: Does Treatment (healing) exist for the asthma?
Trying to find a cure for the illness of my two daugthers (the asthma), the only things I got was that they were putting more ill, from bronchitis they went on to asthma, then it gave them hemoptisis and eventually pulmonary fibrosis andmy two daughters died. The doctors from Peru and from California only gave them two years of life. All the medicines and pills did not serve for anything. The treatment of the asthma damaged their heart and God took them to him. Now I see relatives and friends in the same situation and seek to help but only with natirust treatments, because my past experience was not good. Now I recommend to you to treat each other with plants, because it is better and it can be the cure for you, I have seen some cases that were improving. You can use plants as the asteracea, asmachilca, propoleo, garlics, etc. You can ask me anything and I will give you all the information about the matter... You can find all about naturist treatment in medicinasnaturistas (com)

Q: I have asthma, took a nebulizer treatment four hours ago, but can't stop shaking?
Last night (well early this morning) I had an asthma attack and had to go to the emergency room. After a few treatments of albuterol (and something else I can never remember the name of - I just know that most hospitals only give you about three doses) and prednisone the doctor gave me a shot of adrenaline. I "cleared" and was able to go home, since I have a nebulizer at home and am (for the most part) able to control my asthma. I took another treatment about four hours ago. Usually right after taking the albuterol my hands shake for a bit, but it usually stops. Right now it's my entire body. I can't stop shaking. Is this because of the adrenaline shot? Or possibly because I've had so much medication in the last 18 hours? All suggestions welcome. Thank you! :o) Yup! But it took me a good ten minutes to write out the question and be thankful for spell checker or no one would know what I was typing. Actually, I'm surprised spell check knew. LOL.

A: I hope you're ok now. At least you made it on here :)

If you want to discuss herbal treatments, use a search engine to find a discussion forum for others interested in such matters. Don't publish all this contact information and puffery, while pretending that what you've just posted isn't an advertisement.

Q: whats the best way to avoid asthma and dust allergy?
I have dust allergy, just started recently, i cant even sleep because of wheezing, i have cold and throat infection too, i feel too difficult to breath, once in every month for atleast 5days i suffer this, doctor told me its the symptom of asthma so becareful, i am 21 now, even from my child hood days i had dust allergy but parents didnt take it as serious now i suffer a lot, when i have allergy i feel something hard in my lungs feeling like heavy weight i cant breath properly after taking antibotics it will be fine for some days again it will start. whats the best way to avoid asthma.. i have almost all the symptoms of asthma like regular cold, difficult to breath so on... do i have asthma? i heard that there is no treatment to cure asthma whats the best way to avoid it.

A: Avoidance. The best way to prevent an allergic reaction is to completely avoid the known allergen (e.g., pollen, dust, pet dander). However, avoiding an allergen is often difficult when the allergen is constantly present or an individual is highly sensitive. Although complete avoidance may not be possible, there are ways to limit exposure to allergens. There's no cure for asthma, but the condition can usually be managed and flares can be prevented. Asthma is treated in two ways: by avoiding potential triggers and with medication. They fall into two categories: Medications that act quickly to halt asthma symptoms once they start. Some medications can be used as needed to stop asthma symptoms (such as wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath) when a person first notices them. These medications act fast to stop the symptoms, but they're not long lasting. They are also known as "rescue," "quick-relief, " or "fast-acting" medications. Long-term medications to manage asthma and prevent symptoms from occurring in the first place. Many people with asthma need to take medication every day to control the condition overall. Long-term medications (also called "controller," "preventive," or "maintenance" medications) work differently from quick-relief medications. They treat the problem of airway inflammation instead of the symptoms (coughing, wheezing, etc.) that it causes. Long-term medications are slow acting and can take days or even weeks to begin working. Although you may not notice them working in the same way as quick-relief medications, regular use of long-term medications should lessen your need for the quick-relief medications. Doctors also prescribe long-term medications as a way to minimize any permanent lung changes that may be associated with having asthma. Dealing With Asthma The best way to control asthma is prevention. Although medications can play an essential role in preventing flares, environmental control is also very important. Here are some things you can do to help prevent coming into contact with the allergens or irritants that cause your asthma flares: Keep your environment clear of potential allergens. For example, if dust is a trigger for you, vacuum (or remove) rugs and drapes where dust mites can hide. Placing pillows and mattresses in dust-proof covers can help. If pets trigger your symptoms, keep a pet-free household. If you can't part with Fido or Fluffy, keep certain rooms pet free and bathe your pet frequently to get rid of dander. Pay attention to the weather and take precautions when you know weather or air pollution conditions may affect you. You may need to stay indoors or limit your exercise to indoor activities. Don't smoke (or, if you're a smoker, quit). Smoking is always a bad idea for the lungs, but it's especially bad for someone who has asthma. Be smart about exercise. It's a great way to keep the body and mind healthy, so if you're prone to exercise-induced asthma flares, talk to your doctor about how to manage your symptoms. If you get flares during a game or workout, stop what you're doing until the flare has cleared or you've taken a fast-acting medication. When the symptoms have gone, you can start exercising again
