Q: My mum has got throat constriction.she is suffering from sever asthma. Is there any natural treatment for it?
I can't see her suffering .plz help

A: If you are looking for a quick fix until she can get to a doctor or if she's out of her inhaler or something ..try caffeine. My son has had asthma since he was 6 mos old. One time we were out and he had an attack. We had forgotten his inhaler and a paramedic told me that if that ever happens give him strong coffee. It works, we've had to do it a couple of times over the last 7 1/2 yrs. Hot or cold doesn't matter..just make sure it is caffeinated! I would not recommend this long term or in lieu of medical attention. If she has "severe" asthma she should be on a maintenance medication. So again, I would not recommend this as anything more than a temporary solution. It has worked for us (and others) in a pinch though. Also have her sit in bed propped up with some pillows..listening to some relaxing music, rub her back..anything to rest and slow her breathing. If it is severe..ie: the beds of her fingernails, lips, etc look even a tiny bit purple/blue call an ambulance immediately!

Q: Are there natural alternatives to treating a two year old's asthma?
My two year old had asthma set in when my wife experienced some external stress. Over a year of these treatments has achieved mild improvement but no clearing up of the symptoms in sight. Are there natural or Naturopath alternatives? Links to sources you personally have found credible (with commentary) valued above all. Thanks.

A: I used to have really bad asthma attacks that were stress related as well as allergy related. I started taking Oil of Oregano capsules and they have helped me a great deal within the past 2 years I can say my asthma hasn't bothered me as much. I rarely use an inhaler I haven't even refilled my prescription for an inhaler. Health food stores can recommend something for a 2 year old. Good Luck!!

Q: What is the natural treatment for severe and serious GERD drugs make me sick I have chemical sensitivity?
I have Allergies to drugs and chemicals,my doc wants me on PREVACID but im not sure if I will be able to handle it or not.I have bad GERD so much so that I have had to go to the doc thinking im having a heart attack with chest pain, and i get acid in my throat and GERD related Asthma attacks. I eat an organic diet,I avoid acid foods etc....WHAT THE HELL CAN I DO??????

A: I sympathize! It must be very difficult. What you could try first of all is to eliminate from your diet the following: - bread and pastries. Choose spelt or rye bread. The reason is that most wheat is nowadays genetically modified and our digestive systems can't cope with the new flour. Some people don't react at all, some (like you and me) react badly. My heartburns stopped the day I went over to spelt bread. - coffee - mint, peppermint - spicy foods and very fat foods Eliminating at least those should help greatly. What helps against heartburns and is completely natural is Bentonite or any other form of pure clay (= clay that you can ingest). Mix one teaspoonful of clay in a little water (or you can even get clay in capsules) stir well and take 15 minutes before a meal. Hope that helps! Take care! Lisa J

Q: Do anyone know any natural cures or fixes for asthma?
I have been with asthma my whole life and its pretty severe . I tried apple cider vinegar treatment but it didn’t work, it actually ended up hurting my throat and now i can barely speak cause it hurts so much. I have a lot of medications that is messing me up. so any ideas please do share. I need to get off these meds there not helping me.

A: go see a asthma and allergy specialty, I'm not sure what medication u are on, but most of the time its something that you are allergic to that trigger the asthma. like bird feather, certain pillows make sure that its Cotton and wash them at least once a week, or even body spray, perfume, some time even rubbing alcohol, i have not heard of any home therapy for asthma, but just get an allergy test done and talk to ur doc.

Q: How do you control you asthma through natural ways. AND Some tips about working out to build muscle.?
I have asthma and wanted to know what wats can I control it without using medicine. I wanted something like treatments, foods, or anything in between. Just something that is natural or at least somewhat natural. Another question is can someone give me some simple workout tips for a begginer. I'm going to be joining my Youth minister in a weight room during the summer and wanted to see what I needed to know and stuff and genrally working out. Oh yeah and what I should do now to get my body energetic enough and healthy enogh to get in a decent workout. I want to build muscle. One more thing can someone give me a simple and easy food plan that wont clash with my school schedule. you know a 3 meal not 5 meal a day plan! Thanks so much for the answers and God bless!

A: Asthma is a pain, isn't it? Especially when you try to exercise. You must always have some medicine available, just in case of emergency, but there are natural ways to treat it. For one, eat more flavonoids, found in tea, apples, and onions. Also, cut down on your salt consumption. For some asthmatics, that alone is enough to ease symptoms. Don't believe the myth you have to avoid dairy, although I've personally (yes, I do have asthma) noticed that if an episode is coming on, dairy makes it worse. Otherwise, I'm fine. Others swear by eating hot and spicy stuff. There's nothing like a little cayenne or chili powder to open you up! (I've had friends have the opposite effect though, forcing them to use their emergency inhalers. Test the waters with a small amount first when you're having slight difficulties. Your chest should feel a little less tight and the air should come easier. If not, stay away from the stuff when you're having an episode.) Relaxation exercises will also help. You say you're a beginner in working out. Start slow and start easy. Since you have asthma, only do moderate cardio (think slow jogging or brisk walking) for 15min. and build up by five minutes once a week until you reach 45min. A pain, I know, but it's better than risking an asthma attack! You might notice your asthma gets better too. This is because your lungs have become more efficient in working with oxygen. So you get in shape, look great, AND feel better. What a great deal! For weights, select something you can only do 4-6 reps with. If you're in a lot of pain, then you're lifting too much weight or doing too many reps with the appropriate weight. Build up the weight every couple of weeks until you reach a weight you'd like to lift. Your meals should focus mostly around healthful foods. A whole grain cereal with low-fat or skim milk and a fruit is yummy and healthy. Lunch might include at least two servings of veggies (think easy, like carrots and celery,) a serving of dairy, and a serving of fruit. Have a fruit as a snack between lunch and dinner. At dinner, focus on lean protein, such as white chicken or turkey, salmon, or pork tenderloin. Add two servings of veggies (potatoes, peas, brocolli, and cauliflower are tasty. And tomato sauce counts!) Good luck at getting healthy and in shape!

Q: anyone have asthma, and know a home treatment?
im out of meds and the rescue inhaler is barely working, but thought if there was a natural way to help it you all could help me, i am going to the doctors in a couple hours, but thought someone could help on here

A: 2 strong cups of coffee NOW. I used to do this when I didn't have an inhaler. It has been proven to lessen an asthma attack.

Q: does anyone know of a natural cure for acid reflux?
i recently was diagnosed with acid reflux after spending a day and a half in the hospital being tested for heat attack/disease. now i have asthma which was caused by acid reflux. yippie!!!!! i would rather take something natural if possible. i read about apples. does anyone know of any natural treatments for the acid reflux??????

A: try ditching the milk and dairy products for a few days ......... that may alleviate the nasty pain of acid reflux for you ....... lactose intolerance will produce acid reflux, achy bones, bloating and constipation, excessive belching, excessive gas, ribbony and stringy shaped stools, wet f*arting (sorry, no other way to put it) ....... in the meantime, put a teaspoon full of baking soda into a mug full of warm water, stir up and drink up ...... be prepared to belch loudly and for the pain to increase a little for a few minutes but it will realkalise your system and quell the pain for you........ baking soda does contain an awful lot of processed salt so it wouldn't be appropriate if you have high blood pressure .... otherwise, only use it as a temporary measure and try to pinpoint what is causing the bad digestion ...... bad digestion is the source of your acid reflux....... increase the production of hydrochloric acid in your tummy by chowing down on more leafy and green vegies like broccolli, kale, chard, celery, buk choy .......... all rich in magnesium (known as the antistress mineral) and calcium so also great for brain frizz, stress and anxiety, constipation, insomnia .......... ;0) drink loads of fresh filtered water too buddy to ensure you are properly hydrated .... your lungs need water to breath, your joints need water to lubricate them, your digestive system needs water to digest food, your brain needs it to think........ every single cellular function your body performs needs water ....... drink up and ditch the sodas, pop and soft drinks if you drink any cos they'll all dehydrate you terribly and keep your body in an acid condition ......... promoting bad digestion. peace baby ♥

Q: as a asthmatic person can i go on rigid millitary trainning?

A: If you have asthma you will not be allowed to join the military.

Q: 7 month old diagnosed with asthma?
My 7 mo. old son was diagnosed on Friday with asthma. First, I'm wondering about getting a second opinion as my ped didn't give me much info. Just gave me a nebulizer and a prescription. Second, I'm looking for any advice on treatment, living with, etc. from someone with experience. Also open to any natural/homeopathic treatments. If you did breathing treatments with a nebulizer, any advice on that is welcome (did it help?, how did you make it the most effective?)

A: It is rare for a 7 mo old to have asthma. Was he/she tested for RSV? A second opinion is your choice and is a good one if you ask me. The best non medication treatment is to find the asthma trigger (what causes the asthma) and avoid that trigger. Asthma is an allergy and is triggered as such. the best way to ID the trigger is to keep a diary of events along with what he/she was doing in the hours leading up to the attack. A few tips that may help are.....Keep all bedding clean. Wash stuffed anamils or put them in the freezer for an hour once per week to kill dust mites. Do not let pets into the bed room.

Q: Army asthma question?
im 16 and plan to join the army (active duty, split-op program) and have asthma, it not to bad, i run everyday and if any attacks i experience mild ones, now i know someone on here is going to give me " bla bla section 21 article 13. 7-76-5-444333 YADDA YADDA says any asthma after BLA BLA is disqualifiing" i know there are a ton of people that snuck in with it, brought an inhaler with them, bla bla, if anyone is curently in the army with asthma or knows a way to get around it, or any natural treatments for it Email me rhoadsrocker@gmail.com thanks alot u guys.

A: Do you know what honor and integrity mean? Don't lie to get in. You can't use an inhaler at all unless prescribe by the medics in the Army. It isn't the DI's first day on the job they know where to look for people who think they are slick and can sneak something in. What happens if you have an asthma attack in the gas chamber? There is a reason for medical standards...for your safety.

Q: Food Regimens To Cure Eczema? Natural Treatments?
Hello, I was just doing some research about Eczema and found that it has alot to do with her immune system etc... I've had Eczema for a while and have had asthma and allergies ( to really salty food). People say that drinking water and orange juice helps. But idk. I'm looking for natural cures and remedies even eating regimens. My skin gets extremely DRY and since i'm black, i have really dark dark dark spots on the back of my knees, legs, and elbows. I dont want any creams or pills. What types of foods can i use to clean/purify myself? What is a good regimen to follow? thanksbunches x]

A: Hi, This is a demo video to watch for the eczema cure as seen in Japan. It is not used in Hospitals all over the world yet – but as more people get this water then they will all see that Eczema is curable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxLW-HKgQzU&feature=PlayList&p=262C30FDF046ADAB&playnext=1&index=4 You can try to get free alkaline water - place a wanted add on http://craigslist.com Place a add to ask for 8.5 PH drinking water, and hope that the person can also make 2.5 PH water. Drinking the alkaline water will help, even if you can not spray the 2.5 PH water on your skin and hair. I have been helping a friend get rid of his psoriasis’ on his skin, it covers about 2 square feet of his arms and hands. He has been spraying on 2.5 PH water for about a month now, and it is working. He is also drinking 9.5 PH water. His wife has MS, and is also drinking the 9.5 PH alkaline water, and is doing much better. Good Luck!

Q: Looking for natural herbal treatments? ? ? [Please no sales people!]?
Okay I have acid reflux, asthma, and terrible allergies. I have found a few different sites that have stuff on it... But do you guys reccomend anything? also are there any sites that you really trust and have gotten postive results from? I want real answers from real people... thanks =] adobe... your link does not work.. could you fix it?

A: Because you have multiple symptoms, you might want to get tested for food intolerances (by a naturopath). I had acid reflux, sinus problems and allergies to dust until I got tested and found out I was intolerant to wheat and dairy. Most of my symptoms were gone within a week of changing my diet. For sinuses, I've used Olive Leaf Extract (in pills). For acid reflux, drink water with apple cider vinegar during a meal.

Q: Salt pipe? How do they work and can you make a homemade one?
Recently I saw something called a Salt pipe which is used to treat breathing problems and asthma. You inhale through a handheld 'pipe' in which the air passes over natural salts. Has anyone tried this, how does it work and can you envision a way to make one or to do the same treatment at home?

A: Sorry, Cassie, never heard of one,. I would be interested in your answers.

Q: Best Tips For Helping With Asthma (attacks/etc)...?
I am only 21 years old, but have had bad asthma my whole life..almost able to classify as COPD, but not quite. I get really hard of breathing/weezing especially when doing physical activities and when i am sick. Albuterol has been prescribed to me since i can remember, but it's like I've grown an immunity/tolerance to it, and it seems to not relieve my breathing issues like it used to. I have also been prescribed steroids to help with my respiratory, but i really do not like the side effects that come with it. I am looking for natural/organic supplements or treatments to help me with this problem that has been preventing me from doing some of the things i love in life. please help, thanks

A: It's not uncommon for people to build up resistance to albuterol. I remember being warned about that, and they prescribed me a steroid inhaler since I was using the albuterol more then once a day at times. Fortunately, my bronchitis has for the most part cleared up since I moved and my asthma has gotten a little better so most of the time I go without using either inhaler unless I exercise or have allergies. I'm not sure about natural and organic supplements or treatments. I haven't tried any. One thing that did help me was to get an air purifier for my room, it seemed to reduce the symptoms. Also if you can pinpoint what some of the triggers are, you can take steps to reduce those triggers and reduce symptoms. I tried doing a search for natural/organic supplements and treatments and didn't find much. Sorry.

Q: Are there any alternatives(natural remedies) for infections?
I was in the hospital last month with Pneumonia. I was admitted and had to stay there for a week. The doctors had me on high doses of Levaquin and Predisone and I was on oxygen. I also have asthma so they were giving me Ventilin treatments as well. The same day I got discharged I ended up going back that same night and getting admitted again because of shortness of breath. They couldn't understand why. They said maybe stress at home. I have 3 children. But they didn't give me anything to calm my nerves. I think I was having anxiety/panic attacks. Since I've been home I'm still taking Predisone I'm down to two 5mg pills a day along with Symbicort (inhaled powder for asthma) twice daily. I recently went back to the hospital again for shortness of breath and the doctor in the ER prescribed Avelox. After reading the printed out information sheet I'm not sure if I should take it. It states in capital letters ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION if taking Prednisone. Is it safe?

A: Anxiety is too much carbon dioxide and an imbalance of oxygen--the breathing reflex gets off kilter---breathe in from a brown paper bag--should help in a few minutes---in and out slowly...gather it up to cover the nose and mouth. Don't you have an inhaler device prescribed?? Take what the doctor ordered---and have the kids be quiet and give you some help here---where is dad?? You should be able to quietly relax and get back to health easily--not just working all around like normal---is your house dusty--pet hair?? get a filter to wear if necessary---try that for a few days. how about mold in the house--the basement--waterleaks cause mold spores--VERY BAD WAY TO LIVE. Get a professional to bleach the areas--while you go out for a few days.Feel better and good luck
