Q: what are some symptoms of asthma?
when i ran even a short distance my throat feels like its on fire! i dont get wheezy but it hurts. what can i do?
A: Some asthma symptoms are:
*Wheezing (loud whistling noise that occurs when breathing in and out)
*Coughing a lot
*Feeling of tightness in your chest
*Feeling short of breath
*Having trouble sleeping because of coughing or having a hard time breathing
*Quickly getting tired during exercise
I don't think that you have asthma though. Was the air cold while you ran because that seems to happen when it is cold.
The best thing to do is go to the doctor and get checked out because no one on here can really diagnose you so yeah please go see a doctor
hoped it helps :)
Q: Can swimming regularly help ease the symptoms of asthma?
A: Aerobic exercise in moderation is definitely good for asthmatics, and after a while it can make your lungs stronger and help you withstand an asthma attack.
That being said, the vapor in the air around chlorinated pool water can often trigger asthma attacks (I think it has to do with the chlorine evaporating with the water or something).
Swimming in the ocean, however, I have never had a problem with.
Q: What are the causes of these symptoms(I already got checked at the hospital but there were no abnormalties)?
I have shortness of breath, fatigue, my head feels light-headed. It's weird - I got checked at the hospital for all these symptoms, asthma test, oxygen test(which was 99 %, which is absolutely normal), x-ray, etc. but no problem at all. Results were all normal.
I have social anxiety disorder and am taking Valium everyday, for your information, if this helps. Thanks.
A: Sounds like you are having panic attack symptoms. Symptoms can make your heart pound and cause you to feel short of breath, dizzy, nauseated and flushed. Because panic attack symptoms can resemble life-threatening conditions, it's important to seek an accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Panic attack symptoms can include:
■Rapid heart rate
■Sweating
■Trembling
■Shortness of breath
■Hyperventilation
■Chills
■Hot flashes
■Nausea
■Abdominal cramping
■Chest pain
■Headache
■Dizziness
■Faintness
■Tightness in your throat
■Trouble swallowing
■A sense of impending death
You may have a few or many of these panic attack symptoms. Panic attacks typically begin suddenly, without warning. Panic attack symptoms usually peak within 10 minutes and last about half an hour. But panic attacks have many variations. They may last hours or, on rare occasions, up to a day. You may feel fatigued and worn out after a panic attack subsides. One of the worst things about panic attacks is the intense fear that you'll have another panic attack.
If you have frequent panic attacks, you may have a condition called panic disorder. Panic attacks can greatly interfere with your life —
It's not known what causes panic attacks or panic disorder. Things that may play a role include:
■Genetics
■Stress
■Certain changes in the way parts of your brain function
Some research suggests that your body's natural fight-or-flight response to danger is involved in panic attacks. For example, if a grizzly bear came after you, your body would react instinctively. Your heart rate and breathing would speed up as your body prepared itself for a life-threatening situation. Many of the same reactions occur in a panic attack. But it's not known why a panic attack occurs when there's no obvious danger present.
I would make an appointment with my general practitioner.
Q: What are the symptoms of asthma in infant/toddlers?
A: both of my daughters have asthma they both weezed and sounded really congested anytime the weather changed you need to take your toddler to the dr or a Specialist they can tell you or give you a nebulizer with a medicine called abutral that really help clear the lung
Q: Can someone have symptoms of asthma although the problem is just being overweight?
A: Being overweight can certainly make anyone short of breath. The reason lies in the difficulty to expand the chest. Fat belly will also flatten the diaphgram, which is located between the chest and abdomen and is the main muscle of breathing. That is what the previous post described as restrictive pattern. Asthma causes shortness of breath for a very different reason. There the lung contains inflamed, hyperreactive airways, which like to constrict and obstruct the air flow. Hence the name obstructive. Becase these processes are so different, it is really easy to distinguish between them with the help of pulmonary function testing (PFT). Any doctor can send you for one. AN office "spirometry reading" can give some crude indication as well. Hope that helps!
Q: What are the symptoms of Asthma?
any preventive action that I can do?
A: Symptoms include but are not limited to
Shortness of breath
Wheezing of the lungs
Coughing
Tight chest
Pain in chest
Asthma is triggered by something. The best way to prevent asthma is to know what triggers it and avoid those triggers.
Q: Are these symptoms of asthma?
I am a teenager and I had pneumonia a few months ago. For the past 2 weeks, I have been short of breath, a little bit dizzy, unable to take a deep breath easily, and I have had slight pain in my chest but not too much. It gets worse with the cold weather and in certain buildings. My nose has also been itchy if that matters, and I have been very thirsty. Sometimes it feels like my heart is beating very fast! Do you think this is asthma? Was is caused by pneumonia?
I also have scoliosis if that matters.
A: Just sounds like the end stages of pneumonia. Pneumonia can take a while to get out of your system.
Q: What are some symptoms of asthma?
what do i do if i have all the symptoms
A: difficulty of breathing
wheezing (do not happen everytime; a high pitched sound upon breathing)
chest pain
Q: Anyone know how to minimize the symptoms of asthma?
A: Apart from avoiding triggers, you should also use the preventer medications, such as Seretide etc which help keep the asthma manageable, it is also very wise to always keep your reliever medication with at all times.
It irks me that people who say they are asthmatic don't carry the medication with them.
Q: What are symptoms of asthma?
For gym we run a mile everyday, and at home I run, too. Everyday, there's a point where I can't continue, even though I'm not tired and could run forever, but my lungs get so tight, and I feel like I'm not getting enough air. When I get to this point (which is always at the same amount of running, so it's not random) I get really dizzy also. Someone told me I should just push myself to past this. So, i did and passed out the other day!!!
I'm really sick of this, is it asthma?
A: You may have exercise induced asthma. Symptoms can be like you described. Usually there is wheezing involved too, but sometimes not. Sometimes excess mucus, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath.
Don't push yourself. See a doctor. If it is determined you have asthma, there are many medications that can help you, usually in the form of inhalers.
Asthma can be dangerous, even fatal, so please get checked.
Q: what are the symptoms of asthma in dogs?
A: http://www.petplace.com/cats/bronchial-asthma/page1.aspx
This is a link to a site with a comprehensive article on animal asthma and symptoms. It specifcally refers to felines, but canines can experience the same symptoms disussed in the article.
Q: Diagnosed with Asthma 7 years ago but never have any symptoms?
I remember when I had pneumonia when I was 16, the doctor said I had asthma. But, Ive been playing basketball, running and working out 3 times a week for about 7 years and never had an asthma attack. I’m 24 now and I never had any kind of symptoms of Asthma in my life. Was the Dr. wrong?
*Also never used any medication or inhalers
Also forgot to mention that my chest does tighten up pretty bad to cigarette smoke. I cant stand to be around it.
A: Asthma has many clinical presentations and degrees of severity. It sounds like you have a mild form that only reacts to specific stimuli, ie., mold, dust, possibly cold air, etc. If you were evaluated with a breathing test that measures your expiratory flow (how fast you can breath out in one second) and the results demonstrated a decreased flow you likely received a proper diagnosis. You should have been given instructions on how to treat a possible "attack" if one should occur and medications to relieve the symptoms as well. If not, you may want to consult a pulmonary specialist for proper direction. Asthma can not only be bothersome it can be life threatening if not kept under control. It is, however, generally easy to control and you would be well advised to get a definitive diagnosis and good medical direction.
