Q: Question about a possible allergy symptom and whether others have experienced it?
I have been experiencing (mostly in warmer weather), a tightening of the skin around my eyes, with a deep wrinkling - to the extent that my eyes actually seem to be smaller, and somewhat closed-up - I don't easily wrinkle, so I am wondering if this is a symptom of eye allergy - or is it just the aging process - I do have allergies, so I am suspicious that this may be an allergy symptom - does anyone know how to clear this type of thing up?
A: itching, redness and watering would represent allergy sumptoms, I would suggest you to see a doctor in the days you are going through this, good luck
Q: Could someone please tell me, if hard time breathing possibly an allergy symptom as well?
I have hard time breathing, my nose is also stuffed most of the time. Last night I woke up, cause I felt like I did not have enough of air to breath. Could this possible be an allergy symptom?Thank you!
A: I don't want to presume to know if your symptoms are allergies or otherwise, but I had to comment because you have written exactly what happens to me. Since moving back here to NH 2 years ago, I have had sever allergy problems, and I have discovered the primary cause (besides the pine pollen in the spring time) is from the fact I have force hot air. I do not know if this will relate to you or not, but I have since bought little filters that go in the vents in the floor boards, and my allergies have cleared up almost 100%. My dusting has also improved as I don't "see" dust on my furniture and nick nacks every day...regardless of whether or not I just dusted the day before, so I truly believe the little filters I bought did the trick. If you have force heating this might be part of your problem...
Q: Is a terrible sore throat a seasonal allergy symptom?
i live in PA and all the buds are coming out now, i usually have allergies at this time of year, but i have a REALLY sore throat and ears plus headache. Maybe i should take something besides Allegra for allergies.
A: You can get a sore throat from the drip going down your throat
too much. Yea, all those side effects can happen. Yuk!
Drink more liquids and chicken broth is good for throat-real
hot. Also gargle with warm salt water.
Q: Have you had this type of allergy symptom?
i think this is an allergy symptom but I'm not sure. Have you ever experienced this where your face gets red and little red dots appear on your eyelids and around the eye area? Your eyes might get a little puffy but after a few hours, the dots go away, so that's why I'm guessing its an allergy symptom.
Anyway, has this ever happened to you or do you know anything about it? Is this an allergy symptom and how do you prevent it from coming again?
A: Yes, this sounds like an allergy symptom. The best thing is to identify what you're allergic to, and avoid it.
It's possible that you may be touching something, then touching your eyes. Puffiness around the eyes is a common reaction to animals such as dogs and cats.
Alternatively it may be a cream or soap that you're using on your face. Your eye area is more sensitive than the rest of your face so that's why it is reacting more.
You could try taking an antihistamine tablet as that works for all kinds of allergic reactions - skin reactions as well as sneezing.
Q: Could blue lips and nail beds be a symptom of peanut allergy?
Yesterday, my perfectly normal 3 year old had some peanut butter and crackers and juice for a snack. She has only had peanut butter a couple of times before and not very much. When she finished eating her lips and nail beds were blue and her hands and feet were very cold but she had no other symptoms. The symptoms cleared after an albuterol nebulizer treatment, but she was not having any symptoms of asthma, just symptoms of low oxygen. Could these symptoms have been caused by a peanut allergy?
A: They sound more like symptoms of a heart condition. It would be a good idea to give your pediatrician a call and explain the situation to him/her.

A: Call a 24 hour pharmacy. Pharmacists know more about drug interactions than doctors, and definitely more than people on the internet.
Here is a drug interaction checker.

Q: Pediatric RN's:Can a milk allergy be possible if the only symptom is waking during the night?
This is related to the sleep/nap question posted nearby.
A book we consulted suggests that waking could be a result of a milk allergy. I would think this would manifest some other symptom besides waking. He doesn't spit up, (he often did on formula, though) he doesn't have a runny nose, and he hasn't any rashes. What do you think?
A: I don't know about milk, but I know that my son is allergic to wheat and he often is awakened at night if he has an infraction. When he eats it, he has gastrointestinal pain, as well as long bone pain in his legs and arms.
A milk intolerance (rather than allergy, which would show as anaphylactic shock) would also show other symptoms, like diarrhea, gas, upset tummy, maybe a ras

Q: Is a sore, sensitive throat a symptom of an allergy from say, pollen or dander or mildew?
This came on a week ago, Ive never had such a persistant throat problem. My throat isnt sore its just sensitive, makes me wheeze. What could this be?
Ive never experienced asthma before i think thats trouble breathing--I havent that problem, bronchitis maybe but bronc has never done this to me.
A: It could definately be allergies....I was treated three times for strep, then I finally went to a good doctor who actually tested for strep before giving me medication, all of the tests came up negative. I was put on allegra-D and have felt better this summer than I have for years.

Q: perfume allergy symptom?
Hi
I just bought some new perfume from Victoria's Secret, and it seems that every time that i put it on, i soon after start to get a stomachache followed by (sorry) diarrhea. Does anyone know if this is merely a coincidence or can it be a symptom of some kind of perfume allergy?
Thanks.
A: I hate to nit-pick with the nurse but:
That is not an allergy, that is an intolerance.
With an allergy, there would be a topical reaction on the site of administration. So unless you are drinking it, an allergic reaction is unlikely.
Never the less, you body is still unable to tolerate something in the perfume. You should stop using it, but you do not need to see a doctor unless symptoms persist.
Q: My six year old has a chronic cough, especially at night; is this an allergy symptom and is common.?
A: A chronic cough can be an allergy symptom. He/she could even have asthma. I think you need to get your child to a doctor.
